Single-row deep groove ball bearings with a cylindrical bore

The deep groove ball bearing is the most used rolling bearing in machine building, and with reason. It takes radial load, tolerates a limited axial force in both directions, turns with little friction and asks for almost no maintenance. You find it in electric motors, gearboxes, fans, pumps and in nearly every driven tool.

Selection starts with three dimensions: bore, outside diameter and width, written as 10x26x8 mm or 15x28x7 mm. That combination fixes which bearing fits your housing and your shaft, and there is no negotiating with it.

The seal comes next. A shielded version runs cooler and allows a higher speed, while a sealed version keeps dirt and moisture out better and is the safer choice in a dusty or wet environment. Finally, look at the radial internal clearance. Standard clearance suits most applications. A wider class, marked C3, is meant for shafts that get properly hot or that are mounted with an interference fit, because the clearance closes up during operation. Other bearings for radial load sit under radial, including the cylindrical roller bearing.
