Spill trays, drain pans and leak containment
A spill tray sits under a leak, a decanting operation or a parked machine and holds the escape before it reaches a drain or a floor slab, which is the difference between a wipe-down and a reportable incident. Capacity is chosen against the largest single container stored above it, and where regulations apply the tray usually has to hold the full volume of that container rather than a nominal figure.
Material decides chemical compatibility: polyethylene handles most acids, alkalis and coolants, while steel suits hydrocarbons, hot work and heavy traffic. A removable grid keeps drums clear of standing liquid so they do not sit in their own leak.
For maintenance work, low-profile pans slide under a sump and pour off through a spout, while wheeled versions move a used charge to the disposal point without lifting. Check forklift pockets if the tray will be relocated while loaded. Part of the collection systems range, and for a leak already running an oil containment boom holds back the spread.
