Tool cabinets for securing and organising workshop stock

A tool cabinet keeps hand tools, consumables and small plant behind a door instead of on an open rack, which protects them from dust and damp and stops them walking off a shared shop floor. Mounting position decides the format. A wall unit frees the floor and puts everyday items at working height above a bench. A low unit slides under a worktop and doubles as support for it.

A tall unit swallows bulky kit, cased cordless machines and boxed stock that would otherwise end up on the floor. Judge a cabinet on shell construction, shelf adjustability and the lock. Powder-coated sheet steel shrugs off knocks and solvent spills far better than board, adjustable shelves let you re-pitch the interior as the kit changes, and a proper cylinder lock matters wherever the workshop is not permanently staffed.
