Guards for grinding, cutting and dust extraction

A machine guard keeps sparks, grinding dust and the fragments of a broken disc away from the user. It belongs to the machine and to the disc size: a guard for 125 mm will not fit a grinder running a 230 mm disc, and the collar of the machine decides whether it clamps on at all. Check make, type and disc diameter before you replace a guard.

Beside the standard guard for grinding and cutting there are closed guards with a connection for dust extraction. Those draw the dust away when grinding concrete, screed or tile adhesive and keep both the workplace and your lungs clean. On dry milling and cutting in mineral material that is the usual way of working.

A guard with an adjustable or removable edge gives room to work flat against a wall. Replace a damaged or deformed guard immediately, because a cracked guard no longer contains the force of a disc that lets go.

For sanding on hook and loop, a matching backing pad belongs on the machine.
