Makita cordless cutt-off machine

A Makita cordless cut-off machine makes straight cuts on site or in the workshop, with no cable and no generator nearby. These machines belong to Makita sanding, grinding and polishing, alongside the cordless grinders and sanders.

Start with the battery platform. In the 40Vmax XGT system a machine runs on one or two 40V batteries; in the LXT system it runs on two 18V batteries at once. If your van already carries batteries from one of the two systems, that usually settles the choice. The machines come without battery and charger, or as a set with two 5.0 Ah batteries and a charger.

Then the disc diameter decides what you can cut through. At 230 mm the machine stays compact and easy to guide, 305 mm gives more cutting depth and 355 mm is meant for the heaviest cut-off work in thick material. For smaller cuts, deburring or freehand grinding, an angle grinder suits the job better.
