Single drill bits for metal, wood and stone, countersinks and step drills

Single drill bits for metal, wood and stone, plus countersinks, step drills and brick box drills, are for professionals who replace a worn bit or need one specific size. They belong to cutting tools, together with saw blades.

Start with the material. For metal there are HSS bits and step drills: a 6 to 35 mm step drill bores several diameters in thin sheet with one bit and deburrs the hole as it goes. A step drill from M 6 to M 32 does the same for cable glands. For wood there are hardware drills for hinges, dowel drill bits and countersinks that pilot and countersink in one movement.

For brick and masonry, take a brick box drill with an M16 connection. Always check the shank and the connection: a countersink with a CENTROTEC interface only fits a chuck of that system. Brands include Phantom, Bosch, HiKOKI, Milwaukee, Makita, Metabo, Fein and more. For chases and openings in walls, circular saw blades and diamond blades complete the kit.
