3M Cubitron ll Sanding Belt 784F features 3M Precision Shaped Grain technology. Our cloth sanding belts are a precise blend of shaped ceramic material and premium-quality aluminium oxide. The sanding belts have a flexible cotton J-weight backing and an open construction. The belts also feature a water-resistant backing and Grinding Aid.
Use the 3M Cubitron ll Sanding Belt 784F for faster, more consistent and durable cutting action than alumina belts. Our linen sanding belts are a precise blend of moulded ceramic material and premium-quality aluminium oxide. They deliver optimum cutting action when cutting and blending at medium pressure. Our linen abrasive belts cut exceptionally fast and stay sharp during grinding as the material renews itself. These professional belts deliver cost-effective performance in medium-pressure applications, where an all-ceramic belt is overqualified. With the water-resistant polyester backing, these tyres can be used both wet and dry. To protect heat-sensitive alloys such as stainless steel, titanium, nickel and cobalt alloys from heat-related stress cracking and discolouration, these belts feature an abrasive additive that lowers the working temperature. In addition, the abrasive is firmly bonded to the backing with resin for extra durability under high temperatures and pressure. Tyres with a coarser grain size (36-80) have a YF weight backing, and at the finer grain size (120-180) this is the lighter class XF. Both classes are reasonably flexible and mould well to light contours and flat surfaces. The science behind 3M Precision Shaped Grain technology The use of 3M Precision Shaped Grain is a major step forward in abrasive technology. PSG is a ceramic mineral specially designed with a proprietary process that increases the hardness and abrasion resistance of the grain. 3M's scientists have gone a step further and, through precision engineering, transformed the mineral into triangular grains that continuously break down into super-sharp points and edges when worn. As a result, they cut through the material being worked on like a knife, instead of gouging or ploughing like conventional abrasives.
