Tyre levers for mounting and demounting tyres
A tyre lever breaks the bead and works a cover off the rim without the load ever passing through the sealing surface. Length is the main variable and it follows the wheel. Short 200 to 305 mm levers suit motorcycle and light trailer rims, 400 to 500 mm covers most car and van work, and 610 to 700 mm bars give the reach and force that truck and agricultural tyres demand.
End form is the second choice: a straight taper slides into the tightest gap between bead and rim, a curved or spoon end spreads the load so an alloy rim is not scored, and a mixed pair carries one of each. Forged hardened steel is worth paying for here, because a lever that bends under load throws the operator off balance and marks the rim on the way.
Dress any chewed edge before it does that damage. Alongside the levers a spring tool handles suspension and exhaust work on the same lift, and a brake tool covers the caliper pistons you can reach once the wheel is off.
