Tube spanner sets for recessed nuts and tight clearances

A tube spanner set reaches nuts that a socket and ratchet cannot: recessed fixings, studs that project straight through the nut, and anything sitting in a well with no room for a drive square. The tube is hollow, so the thread passes clean through the body, and a tommy bar dropped through the cross hole supplies the leverage.

Most are double-ended, so one tube covers a pair of sizes and a compact roll spans the common metric range from around 6 to 32 mm. Typical work is plumbing and heating, brake and suspension fittings, machine assembly and anywhere a long stud makes a socket useless. Judge a set on wall thickness, finish and the case it comes in.

A thin wall drops into a tight recess but flexes under heavy load, chrome plating resists corrosion in damp conditions, and a moulded case or roll keeps sizes in order in a van. It complements a combination spanner set within the wider sets range.
