A telescopic support holds boards, panels and structural parts in place temporarily, so you can keep working with both hands free. When fitting ceiling and plasterboard, setting window frames or backing up formwork, the support takes the weight and keeps everything tight at height. You extend the pole to the length you need and then lock it under light tension between floor and ceiling.
When choosing, look mainly at the working range and the maximum load: short models from around 910 mm suit low rooms, while versions up to 3000 mm reach high ceilings. A quick-clamp mechanism or a pressure plate with fine adjustment lets you press home the last few millimetres accurately and without damage.
