Staple guns for fastening insulation, membrane and upholstery

A staple gun drives a staple into wood, board or soft sheet material in a single stroke, which makes it the fastest way to fix insulation, roofing felt, cable runs, upholstery fabric and thin plywood. The drive mechanism is what separates the machines here. A manual hand tacker gives full control at head height and on delicate material, and needs nothing but grip strength. A hammer tacker trades that control for speed, so it earns its place on large flat surfaces such as underlay and vapour barriers.

An electric tacker removes the squeeze force altogether and keeps the drive constant through a long shift, which matters on repetitive fitting work. Match the staple leg length to what you are fixing: short legs of around 8 mm for thin fabric and membrane, 14 mm and beyond for board and batten. Check which staple a body accepts before ordering, because bodies and staples are not interchangeable across ranges.
