Sanding caps for the die grinder and flexible shaft

A sanding cap is an abrasive sleeve that slides over a rubber carrier and turns on a die grinder or a flexible shaft. The tool comes into its own where a grinding disc cannot reach: in dies, along weld seams, in internal corners, bores and transitions that have to be finished by hand. Because the sleeve wears out and is replaced instead of the carrier, the cost per operation stays low.

Shape sets the contact face. A cylindrical form finishes flat walls and straight edges, a cone reaches into narrow corners and radii, and a roller form spreads the pressure over a larger area when smoothing longer runs. Diameters run from around 10 to 40 mm, so you can match the cap to the opening. Choose the abrasive on the material: corundum for steel and general work, silicon carbide for aluminium and other soft metals, where corundum loads up quickly.

Coarse grits remove material, fine grits finish. For flat work on larger surfaces, fibre disc and sanding roll are the logical companions.
