Safety harnesses for work at height
A safety harness spreads arrest forces across the thighs, chest and shoulders so a fall ends in a survivable load rather than an injury. It is the part of a fall protection system the user actually wears, and comfort decides whether it is worn correctly for a full shift or loosened by mid-morning.
Start with the attachment points the work needs. A dorsal point is the standard for fall arrest, a front point suits ladder and rope access work, and side points are for work positioning only and must never be used to arrest a fall. Buckles then decide how quickly it goes on: quick-release fasteners speed up donning and adjustment where a harness is shared or worn over changing layers, while standard buckles hold a personal fit that is set once and left.
Inspect webbing, stitching and hardware before every use, and take a harness out of service after any arrest. Part of the fall protection range, and of no use on its own without the safety line and anchorage that complete the system.
