Radius gauges for checking rounded edges and fillets
A radius gauge quickly determines the radius of rounded edges, concave profiles and convex surfaces. The tool consists of a fan of thin blades, each with a fixed radius, that you hold against the workpiece until one blade fits exactly. This lets you check in the workshop or during machine maintenance whether a rounded edge stays within tolerance without any calculation.
A set typically covers a fixed range, from small radii for fine mould work to larger radii for structural parts. When choosing, look at the measuring range in millimetres and the step size between blades, because a finer division gives a more precise reading. Hardened steel keeps the blades dimensionally stable for longer, even under intensive use.
For metalworking, toolmaking and quality control, a radius gauge is a fixture alongside your other measuring tools. Store the blade fan dry so no corrosion forms that could affect the measurement. Combine it with your other measuring and inspection instruments for a complete checking set on the bench.
