Pressure test pumps: hand-operated, electric and pneumatic

A pressure test pump puts a pipe run, a boiler or a hydraulic circuit under a controlled test pressure, so you can see whether the installation is tight before it is handed over. You fill the system, pump up to the specified value and read whether the pressure holds over the test period. A drop points to a leaking coupling, a hairline crack or a valve that does not seat, and that is better found during the test than after commissioning.

The drive decides how the work goes. Hand pumps are light, need no power source and are enough for sanitary, heating and sprinkler lines. Electric versions on 230V take over the pumping on large volumes and long test runs. Pneumatic, double-acting pumps run on compressed air and are the choice in industrial settings and in positions where electrical equipment is not allowed.

Check the maximum test pressure, the connection size and the reservoir volume, so the system can be filled in one go. Hi-Force, Fluke, RIDGID and Facom each cover a different part of this. Other inspection equipment sits under analogue measuring instruments.
