Plug-in nipples for quick couplings on hose and tools
A plug-in nipple is the male half of a quick coupling: it clicks into the coupler and comes off one handed. On air tools, hose reels and distribution blocks that turns swapping between a stapler, an impact wrench and a blow gun into a matter of seconds, with no threading and no sealing tape.
Two things have to match. The profile of the nipple has to suit the coupler already in the installation, because profiles are not interchangeable and a nipple that almost fits will leak or fail to lock. The connection on the hose side counts as well: male or female thread in the common sizes, or a hose tail for a given inside diameter.
Look at the bore too. A nipple that is too narrow throttles the air flow, so tools with a high air consumption deliver less than the compressor can actually supply. Alongside compressed air there are versions for water lines and cleaning. Metabo, Airpress, Gardena, Facom, Hi-Force, SKF, Makita, Vikan and Bahco supply the range. The matching couplers sit under quick couplings and claw couplings.
