Moldex

Moldex Protection

Moldex produces personal protective equipment. The key goals of Moldex products for respiratory and hearing protection are safety, quality, usability, durability, and design.

Sustainability and Innovation

Moldex feels responsible for society as a whole. Therefore, sustainability is very important to Moldex: products and production processes are continuously adapted to bring the most sustainable products to market. Moldex continues to innovate by implementing new ideas to increase safety, comfort, and service.

In the development of new products or production lines, sustainable aspects are always carefully considered. This is possible thanks to a deep specialization in the manufacturing process. More than 90% of all components of a product are produced by Moldex itself. Moldex tries to recycle as many leftover materials as possible and reintroduces them into the manufacturing process. The packaging of all Moldex products can be recycled.

Moldex never works with materials that are dangerous or harmful to health. Since 2008, all Moldex products have been free of PVC. Moldex buildings will also be adapted to current energy guidelines. For example, the photovoltaic installation at the logistics headquarters saves Moldex approximately 59 tons of CO2 per year.

Moldex produces as much as possible in and for Europe. The transportation routes of components and parts for production are kept to a minimum.

Dust Masks and Hearing Protection

Moldex is one of the leading manufacturers of respiratory and hearing protection. For over 30 years, continuous innovation has been one of Moldex’s key strengths. Moldex was founded in 1980 in California by entrepreneur Mark Magidson. He wanted to introduce a new type of disposable dust mask to the American market. The disposable dust mask was a great success. Five years later, Moldex Germany was also established. The German branch was tasked with developing and producing products for the European market that could meet the strict European regulations and standards. Today, Moldex has grown into a global company in 24 countries with 750 employees. Together with Martin Skov, Moldex-Metric AG & Co. KG was established in Walddorfhäslach near Stuttgart, Germany.

Specifically for the German coal industry, Moldex produced the first exhalation valve for FFP masks. The goal was to provide mask wearers with comfort in extreme climate conditions in underground mines. The result was a climate valve with very low breathing resistance. The FFP masks were well received in the mines due to their strong and durable composition, and later found success in other sectors as well.

In the 1990s, Moldex began producing and selling foam earplugs and respiratory protection against gases and vapors: in 2010, Moldex launched a full-face mask. Moldex is a specialized company with a clearly defined product line that continues to innovate in safety products and user-friendliness.
