Rope grab fall arresters for vertical lifeline systems
Working at height on ladders, masts, towers and vertical structures requires a fall arrest device that moves freely with the climber yet locks instantly if a fall occurs. Rope grab fall arresters clamp onto a vertical lifeline and follow the user upward and downward without manual adjustment. The moment the device detects a sudden downward acceleration, the cam mechanism engages and grips the rope, arresting the fall within a short distance.
The Stopfor series pairs the rope grab with an M41 coupling and integrated lanyard, providing a complete connection between the lifeline and the harness attachment point. The lanyard absorbs a portion of the arrest energy, reducing the peak force transmitted to the worker's body during a fall. Standard rope lanyard models suit most industrial climbing applications, while strap material versions offer greater resistance to abrasion and chemical exposure in environments where ropes degrade faster.
Correct installation requires matching the rope grab to the lifeline diameter and type specified by the manufacturer. Using an incompatible rope risks the device failing to engage or slipping during arrest. Before each use, inspect the cam mechanism, coupling gate and lanyard for wear, corrosion or damage that could compromise performance during a fall.
