Insulation tape for electrical and bundling work

Insulation tape wraps and protects electrical joints, marks conductors and bundles cable runs, and the soft PVC backing is what makes it work: it stretches around a joint, conforms to the shape and stays put with no mechanical fixing. Professional grades hold their adhesion across a wide temperature range instead of unwinding in a warm ceiling void or going brittle in a cold plant room.

Width follows the job. 19 mm is the standard electrical roll and covers terminations and small bundles, 50 mm suits larger bundles, temporary protection and marking, and 12 to 15 mm fits tight terminal work. Colour is not decoration in this category, because phase identification, earth marking and departmental colour coding all depend on a consistent scheme, so buy full colour sets rather than mixed remnants.

Check backing thickness and elongation for jointing work, and keep a separate roll for non-electrical bundling so the marked colours stay meaningful. Part of the adhesive tapes and films range, next to general adhesive tape for packing and repair.
