Tube expanders for round and square profile ends

An expander is the fixing that turns an open tube end into a solid mounting point. The body slides into the profile, and tightening the bolt spreads a sleeve against the inside wall until the whole assembly is clamped without drilling or welding. Trolleys, roll containers, workbench frames and hospital furniture all rely on this joint, so the fit matters more than anything else.

Work from the internal dimension of the tube rather than the outside: square bodies suit box section between roughly 24 and 40 mm, and round bodies cover the equivalent circular sizes. Stainless steel versions resist wash-down and food-industry cleaning chemicals, while plastic bodies keep the cost down on dry indoor use. Check the stem diameter and thread at the other end too, because it has to match the wheel or castor you intend to fit.
