Chemical drain cleaners dissolve blockages in drains without unscrewing the trap: grease, soap residue, hair and food scraps that narrow a pipe. They belong to cleaners and degreasers, and every product in this category is from HG.

Choose by where the blockage is and what causes it. A kitchen unblocker targets the drain of the sink and dishwasher, a hair unblocker the shower and washbasin. A gel unblocker is thicker than a liquid one and sinks through standing water down to the blockage. Liquid unblockers come in 500 ml and 1000 ml bottles, and there is also an ECO version.

For regular maintenance, before a drain is fully blocked, there is a drain cleaner in a pack of 6. Wear gloves and safety glasses, follow the contact time on the label and never mix two unblockers: do not pour in a second product if the first one does not work, but flush thoroughly first. If the problem is limescale rather than dirt, a descaler is the better choice.
