Cordless cable cutters for fast, powerful cutting

A cordless cable cutter slices copper and aluminium cables cleanly, without a saw burr or flattened cores. For fitters in electrical engineering and installation, that is faster and safer than cutting by hand with a mechanical cable shear, especially on thicker cross-sections. Many versions work hydraulically: a battery drives a pump that forces the blade through the cable with great power, even underground or in hard-to-reach spots.

Milwaukee, Makita and Bosch offer models at 12V for lighter work and at 18V for heavy cables. When choosing, look at the maximum cutting diameter you need, because that determines the cable thickness you can safely work with. An insulated or non-cutting head matters when you work near live parts. Also consider the weight and the balance, as you often use the tool with one hand or inside a cabinet.
