Circlip pliers for internal and external rings

Circlip pliers fit and remove the retaining rings that hold components in place on a shaft or in a bore. The fine tips engage the eyes of the ring, so you expand or compress it in a controlled way without it springing free. That makes the plier indispensable in machine building, maintenance and repair of drives, bearings and shafts. There is a distinction between pliers for internal rings in bores and pliers for external rings on shafts, with straight and bent jaws for different positions.

Tips come in increasing diameters, and a ratchet adjustment or spring return makes the work faster and more precise. Lengths typically run from around 130 mm for fine work to 320 mm and larger for heavy rings. When choosing, watch the type of ring, the hole diameter of the eyes and the accessibility of the groove. Brands such as Knipex, Gedore, Wiha, Facom and Bahco offer circlip pliers for a wide range of sizes.

Choose the plier that suits the rings you fit most often, so every retaining ring sits securely and without damage.
