Lockout devices for valves, breakers and switches

A locking mechanism holds an energy isolation point in the off position so it cannot be restored while someone is working downstream. The device does the mechanical work; the padlock and the tag record who owns the isolation. Valve locks clamp the handle or the actuator so it cannot be turned, and are sized to the pipe, from small instrument lines up to larger process pipework.

Breaker locks fit the toggle or the housing and hold one circuit out, while brackets and cable systems cover panels, disconnects and groups of devices at once. Where several trades work on the same equipment, a bracket lets each person add their own lock and keeps the isolation live until the last one comes off, which is the whole point of a lockout procedure rather than a nicety.

Choose by the exact fitting you need to secure, because a device that almost fits will be defeated. Kits gather the common types so a site can respond without improvising. Each device is completed by a padlock issued from a padlock cabinet.
