Back panels that turn bench space into vertical storage

A back panel closes off the rear of a workbench or trolley and turns dead vertical space into storage. Hand tools hang where they are used instead of covering the worktop, every reach gets shorter, and a missing item is obvious at a glance rather than at the end of the job. Panels come as empty rear walls ready to be fitted out, as perforated sheets that accept hooks and clips directly, and as sections that carry a noticeboard or a document holder.

Fit is the first thing to check, because a rear wall is sized to a specific bench or trolley frame and heights vary between ranges. After that, look at panel gauge and the load the fixing has to carry: a loaded socket rail needs a thicker sheet and a proper bracket, while light hand tools sit fine on a standard hook. Decide too whether the panel stands free above the bench or fixes to the wall behind it.

Combine it with tool holders and tool tray inserts to lay out a complete station.
