Insulated cable lugs for bolted terminations

A cable lug turns a stranded conductor into a bolted termination you can torque down and inspect. Crimped onto the conductor and bolted to a busbar, terminal block or earth stud, it holds the strands together so the joint keeps its contact area under vibration and thermal cycling.

Ring types are the safe default on anything that must not shake loose, because the bolt passes through a closed eye. Fork and spade types speed up work in a control panel where terminations are changed often, at the cost of that closed connection. Insulated barrels are colour-coded by conductor size, so an inspector can read the crimp range at a glance.

Size the lug to the conductor first and to the stud second, then crimp with the die the barrel is designed for rather than pliers. Insulated ranges here run from AWG 22 up to AWG 10, covering control wiring through to small power circuits. Cable lugs sit in the same connecting material family as the wire end ferrule, which does the same job at a screw terminal rather than a bolt.
