Safety glasses and goggles for eye protection at work
Safety glasses are the last thing between an eye and a flying fragment, and the pair that gets worn is the pair that fits. Grinding, drilling, chiselling and compressed air all throw debris at speed, and a scratched or fogged lens ends up pushed onto the forehead within minutes, which protects nothing.
Lens tint is a working decision rather than a style one. Clear lenses are the general indoor choice, smoke and grey cut glare outdoors and on reflective sheet, and amber lifts contrast in poor light and in a dim plant room. A scratch-resistant coating keeps the lens usable through a full shift of dusty work, and an anti-fog treatment matters most in cold stores, wash bays and anywhere a respirator is worn underneath.
Fit decides whether they stay on: adjustable temples and a soft nose bridge stop pressure points over a long shift, and a wrap-around frame closes the gap at the side. Safety glasses belong to the wider eye protection glasses range, alongside prescription glasses for anyone who needs correction while working.
