Sanding sponges for profiles, mouldings and filler work

A sanding sponge holds abrasive grit against shapes a flat sheet cannot follow: rounded profiles, mouldings, window frames and the feathered edge of filler. The foam core flexes under hand pressure, spreading load evenly so the surface comes up without the dig-in marks and flat spots a rigid backing leaves behind. Grit ranges cover everything from coarse stock removal to fine keying before primer, and most are washable, so they go back to work instead of into the bin, which keeps consumable cost down on long finishing jobs.

Pick by three criteria: grit, thickness, and whether the abrasive covers one face or wraps all four sides for corner access. Thicker bodies around 26 mm give a comfortable two-handed grip on large panels, while thin 13 mm sheets fold into rebates and tight internal angles. Angled and contoured versions follow concave beading.
