Harvesting, tidying up, pruning, and protecting — all typical autumn chores for garden owners. You can complete these tasks faster and conveniently only with the right tools. Here, we’ve listed a number of gardening tools that are particularly useful in the autumn months.
Pruning shears
Pruning perennial plants in the autumn helps them through the cold months. Most perennial plants go dormant in the winter, entering a slower growth phase with less energy consumption. Check if your pruning shears are still razor-sharp. If the blades are dull or damaged, it’s time for a new one.
Hedge trimmer
You can prune conifer, yew, and boxwood hedges before the first frost. You’ll be able to do this fine with manual hedge trimmers. But if you have large hedges, you should consider a motorized hedge trimmer. Many versions run on mains power, battery, or petrol. Besides the drive, the pruning length is mainly a criterion for purchase. The longer the blade, the more hedge you can prune at once.
